Important Update
As the first day of school gets closer and closer, we are working hard to make sure that we have all bases covered. Here are the latest changes that need to be reported. We have hired a new Office manager, and a bookkeeper. Many of you met Mrs. Nancy Casey last year, when she filled in for Ms. Alyce as receptionist. We have hired her to take over bookkeeping duties. She will work every Tuesday, watching the phones and keeping track of the finances. We are very happy to welcome her aboard in a more permanent fashion. Our new office manager is Mrs. Bev Labraaten. She will man the front desk on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Important information regarding the 2011-2012 school year
Greetings Heartland families, friends, and board members;
I am writing this newsletter to put out some important information. Let me start out by announcing that Mrs. Plotts has resigned from her position at HCA, and accepted a similar position at St. Phillips. We will miss her, and we wish her "fair winds and following seas", (as we used to say in the Navy). The Plotts' family has been a cornerstone in the Heartland family for a number of years, and we will miss her. That being said, both of the Plotts' girls will be staying at HCA, so the circle remains unbroken!
We have recently made four changes in HCA staffing. Mr. Dan Bera is returning to teach the 3/4 grades. We are extremely pleased to be able to have him back aboard. Most of you know that Mrs. Connell resigned after last year, in order to be able to devote more time to family and private tutoring. I am pleased to announce that we have hired Mrs. Fawn Foss (formerly Bakken) to teach music at HCA. Many of you know her, and for those of you who don't yet, rest assured that she is a dynamite addition to our staff. The third change is that we have hired Mrs. Leah Hicks (formerly Russell) to teach 5/6 grade. Leah is a former student of HCA, and is fully licensed to teach in Minnesota, with an additional certification in Language Arts. The fourth change is adding Mrs. Robbie Krueth as the HCA Custodian. I know all of the teachers will be most grateful for her addition!
I know that this newsletter is a little long, but please bear with me for a bit longer.I would like to add a vacancy that needs to be filled. Many of you know that Ms. Alyce suffered an aneurysm last year, and was hospitalized for quite some time. Many of you are probably unaware that she returned to the hospital this week with some additional ailments. She is expected to get out of the hospital as early as this afternoon, but will need to rest, and will have to phase back on working. And so we are in need of a full time office manager. If you (or anyone you know of) is interested in the position, please contact the school as soon as possible, for details.
The last thing on the agenda is to talk about the first day of school for HCA. It will be on Thursday, 8 September. The 7th of September will be utilized for student orientation. The first session will run from 2-4 pm, and the second from 5-7 pm. Remember, attendance at one of these sessions is MANDATORY!
I hope this note finds you all happy and healthy, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to serve you!
Pastor David C. Myers
Principal, HCA
