July 4th Parade Float a Great Time for Puppets and People
The Independence Day parade float for Heartland brought smiles to the children lined up along the streets as they waved to the puppets held by the students from the HCA Puppet Team ministry. Principal Dr. Robert Roach and his wife, Mrs. Laraine Roach got to be guest puppeteers waving from the back of the shiny truck hauling the sound equipment, generator, computer, cords, buckets, candy, pencils and balls. The sound equipment was on loan from QFM Christian radio, and the contemporary Christian music was well-received by the crowd.
30th Anniversary Hog Roast Picnic a Great Celebration
Despite threatening weather with winds up to 42 miles per hour and driving rain all around Bemidji, the hog was successfully roasted and the crowds showed up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of Heartland Christian Academy. Former and current principals, board members, teachers and students were in attendance, with an estimate of more than 200 people joining in the celebration. More than ten huge, delicious apple pies baked and donated by the Steele family, with a little ice cream on the side, was a wonderful way to conclude the feast.

The children sang special numbers directed by Sonja Connell, including one of Dr.
