As an "end of quarter reward," Heartland students (grades 1-8)will be attending the "Seussical the Musical" show on Friday, February 12th at noon at the Bemidji High School Auditorium. The show will feature favorite Dr. Seuss book characters including the Cat in the Hat, the Grinch, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, the Whos from Whoville and Dayzie. The cost will be $5.00 per student. The show will feature high school and middle school students from the Bemidji area, including our own Hannah Allen. Car-pooling is currently being arranged.

Skate-a-Thon a Big Success

Heartland skaters and guests had a wonderful time at the Neilson-Reise arena in Bemidji raising funds for their school. Guests included Phil and Dennis from QFM Christian radio in Fosston who provided the contemporary Christian music and contributed prizes. Darrin Adams, as manager at Perkins, contributed the yummy hot chocolate and coffee (it was cold on the ice!). The BSU women's hockey team was a big hit, with some players coming back again with good memories of helping young skaters last year.

30th Anniversary Planning Underway

Planning is currently underway for celebrating Heartland Christian Academy's 30 years of ministry to the children of the Bemidji area. Lu Schussman, as chair of the Promotions committee, is inviting both current and past Heartland families to participate in putting together special events scheduled for this spring. If you are willing to help with any aspect of celebrating this banner year, contact the school office at 218-751-1751. Special assistance is particularly needed to find alumni and former board members.

Work Day Made a Difference!

More than twenty parents and students came to Heartland last Saturday to help with a "deep cleaning" of our Heartland Christian Academy facilities as well as resurfacing of the ice rink and patching of walls. "This is the best turnout for a workday that I can remember," said Todd Wille, workday supervisor and former board member. Mrs. Eriksson, our HCA Volunteer Coordinator, was very pleased with the participation. A good effort was given by all the volunteers resulting in a school that impressed the teachers on Monday morning. Thanks to all who helped!

Christmas Program a Blessing

lead image

Under the able direction of Mrs. Sonja Connell, Heartland Christian Academy students presented the Gospel of the traditional Christmas story through vocal and instrumental music, and drama. The event, held at the First Baptist Church of Bemidji, was well attended, with good Christian fellowship following the program. Thank you, Mrs. Connell, children, parents, and staff! The welcome was offered by Jim Landes, one of the "founding fathers" of HCA.
