Our Field Trip to Lake Bemidji State Park

The 7th and 8th grade class went to the Lake Bemidji State Park to collect macro-invertebrates and test the water. We wore waders and used D-Nets to collect samples of macro-invertebrates while another group tested the waters pH level, temperature, and clarity. We also tested the wind speed, temperature, and location outside of the water.

We concluded that our water has not changed very much and nature-safe. We could tell this not only because we tested the water, but also because we found a wide variety of macro-invertebrates, such as dragonfly nymph, scuds, caddisflies, snails, and bloodworms. We even found a baby snapping turtle. We enjoyed our trip, and learned a lot.
