Mrs. Johannsen's Class Searches for Life Forms!
Mrs. Johannsen led her intrepid explorers to the shores of Lake Bemidji, seeking clues on the health of the waterway by looking at pH, turbidity, temperature, and a survey of invertebrates. As an early-in-the-year field trip, this event stirs the scientific interest of the middle school students, awakening their interest in knowing and preserving the good gift of God's wondrous creation. Even with strangely named creatures like whirligigs, water scorpions, and horse leeches, the boys and girls showed no fear of what might lie in the muck of the Lake Bemidji State Park boat landing.
First Day Back!
For students in grades 1 through 8, Tuesday marked the first day back at Heartland Christian Academy. A dozen new families became a part of our "Heartland Academy Family," and we are excited to have them join us. We are also pleased that our foster grandparents, Grandma Jo, Grandma Alice, Grandma Betty and Grandma Virginia have returned, as well.
School Starts September 8th!
With school starting right after Labor Day weekend, parents who are considering registering their children at Heartland Christian Academy are urged to contact the school office (218-751-1751) immediately. Parent orientation, which is mandatory for enrollment, will be on Thursday, September 3rd with repeat programs at 3 PM and 6 PM here at the school. The orientation will include an overview of the handbook, finalization of registration, completion of financial matters, an opportunity to choose your volunteer service, and a chance to meet with your child's teacher.
Well Done! Music and Art Festival a Blessing
Students did an excellent job with vocal and instrumental music after having worked for months to put together this unique and exciting program. Each grade offered something VERY SPECIAL to present, demonstrating variety, energy, and talent. There was also a fine art gallery display of student work. Audience comments showed a real appreciation for the efforts of Mrs. Connell, our music teacher.
