Heartland Children Awarded by Temperance Union
First through third grade students District-wide were invited to color a poster on the theme "Say No to Drugs," in a contest sponsored by the Women's Christian Temperance Union. A "guest first grader," Josiah Charon won 1st place in both his grade and the whole Bemidji District, making his artistic work eligible to go on to state competition. Among our second graders, Kia Cerven took 4th, Grace Adams took 3rd, Cailin Cermak took 2nd, and River Ryan took 1st place for the school. River's work also qualified him to be awarded 2nd place in the District, giving him a chance at state competition, as well. Among 3rd graders, Jacob Riggs took 3rd place in the Bemidji District, and Nathan Watson was awarded 1st place in the District, qualifying his work to be judged at the state level. Other participants receiving an "honorable mention" include Annah Schussman, Ryan Adams, Cassy Danielson and Anna Falldorf.
