Jamaican Believers Visit Heartland
Pastor Philemon and Olga Samuels and their lead drummer Maria shared a chapel service this week after coming to the Northland all the way from Montego Bay, Jamaica, where they serve the church through Fresh Bread Ministries. Maria and Olga led in spirited, Christ-honoring songs with a Jamaican flavor. Brother Philemon then brought a word of encouragement to the children, describing the potential that God has placed in each boy and girl, just like the potential of a whole forest of trees is found in a single, small seed. After an enthusiastic chapel time, the Jamaican ladies then prayed with some of the girls, and Philemon joined Dr. Roach in a special prayer time with the 8th grade boys.
The team from Jamaica has been sharing with the people of Tenstrike Community Church, where several students and staff attend. Philemon and Olga have been connected in ministry with the Tenstrike Community Church for decades.
As a special treat, our Jamaican guests joined the Adam and Vicki Charon family, the Bob and Julie Bush family, and former Olympic speed skater Chantel Cermak on our Heartland skating rink for some first-time fun on the ice.
